Soccer Pictures

A football picture (a soccer picture to our colonial cousins) is so evocative of time, place and society. Soccer is undoubtedly the World's sport and football pictures are a rich source of history and humour.

Remember that, like football clubs and attendances, our framed football pictures come in all shapes and sizes, so you can have your soccer picture at the size you need, and framed in any way you want. Click on the image below to reveal paintings, posters, prints, photographs, illustrations, and more. If your team doesn't have its own category, put its name in the Search box at the top of the page and see what comes up!

Soccer pictures now seem to be ubiquitous in this multi-million pound, sponsor-rich age, but you won't find run-of-the-mill football images here. We have some of the most unusual, striking and classic football photos and soccer cartoons you can find (and many you can't).

Our collection of soccer images starts with the origin of the organised game in England in the 19th century. We have Victorian football engravings - see the string used before the crossbar was introduced. We then move on through the start of the professional game, with many team photos around the turn of the last century. - Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, for example. We also have exemplary football pictures of early matches such as England v Scotland (the oldest of international fixtures) from 1905 and FA Cup fixtures.

Kids everywhere dream of becoming a professional footballer when they grow up, and that's amply demonstrated by our Boy's Own covers and football cartoons from other magazine favourites, boys' comics and football annuals. There are also some attractive continental football posters and risqué lady footballers in the football illustration section.

From a later age we have the cover of the 1966 World Cup final programme, a souvenir of the 1970 Mexico competition (why, oh why did Alf Ramsay substitute Bobby Charlton against the Krauts?) and a joyous photo of Chelsea's 2005 Premiership-winning team.

If you are looking for an old team photo of the club you support and can't see it here, it's always worth asking as we have lots of pictures not yet up on the site. Just contact us and if we have it we'll send you the image.
